What does a modern dishwasher look like? How can you design technical solutions to make them genuinely user-friendly? These are the kinds of fascinating questions that confront technical product designers. The job involves using innovative 3D software to design individual components and assemblies while dovetailing design specifications and customer requirements with technical feasibility. There's never a dull moment!

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM YOUR APPRENTICESHIP:

  • Duration: 3.5 years
  • You will spend one and a half days a week at the Lahr vocational school for industrial trades, where the theoretical part of your training will take place
  • You will receive your basic training in metalworking in the apprentice workshop as well as in-depth instruction in 3D and CAD
  • You will rotate through all the design engineering departments as well as production, operations scheduling and quality assurance
  • You will carry out individual and group projects in design, development and planning

WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING TO THE ROLE:

  • You enjoy designing components and have good spatial awareness
  • Your strengths also include logical reasoning and technical aptitude
  • You demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and an eagerness to continuously develop new skills
  • You are a team player with good communication skills
  • Ideally, you will already have completed an internship as a technical product designer
  • Good secondary school qualifications
