Code of Conduct

MEIKO was founded in 1927 in Offenburg, Germany, by Oskar Meier and Franz Konrad. In accordance with the final wishes of Oskar Meier and his wife Rosel, the company was to be entrusted to a neutral foundation, ensuring it would rise above vested interests and individual circumstances. This came into effect in 1983 with the creation of the Oskar and Rosel Meier Foundation, which is the current owner of the MEIKO Group.

The foundation's primary purpose is to maintain and further develop the MEIKO Group. To this day, everyone who works for the company is guided by this ethos. All our interactions – both inside and outside the organisation – are based on being respectful, reliable, innovative, sustainable, quality-driven and agile. These are our company's core values.

Life, nature, planet Earth: these are gifts to us and we must treasure them. That is why, at MEIKO, we do not think in business quarters. We think in generations. We always have an eye on the bigger picture and we're setting up all of our departments for greater sustainability. This is how we fulfil our environmental, social and economic responsibilities. Our products are highly resource efficient and our food waste treatment systems can help generate energy.

We nurture a culture of trust and are able to rely on one another. Our employees expect this and so do our customers, but also everyone with whom we have a business relationship. We journey with them and we are always there when we are needed, often over the course of decades. This helps us to achieve great things and reach our own goals.

MEIKO's history spans almost 100 years and, throughout that time, we have proven again and again that we know how to adapt to change quickly. And we have never stopped learning – that is key. Alongside our core values, our corporate culture is also enriched by an annual calendar of MEIKO events. For example, “Wienerle Day” is celebrated twice a year to mark the birthdays of founders Oskar and Rosel Meier. On these occasions, employees come together to enjoy vegan or traditional wiener sausages, a bread roll, a drink of their choice, and a bar of chocolate.

We also host a flagship summer party at our Offenburg headquarters, featuring a diverse range of activities. These are just two examples of the many events that are designed to strengthen our MEIKO community.
