ALEXANDER JÄGLE

Expert mechanic with wide-ranging skills

1991 was a memorable year for Alexander. That was when he began the apprenticeship at MEIKO that would eventually lead to his current position as a project technician. After successfully completing his training, he built up experience in various departments, starting out in toolmaking before moving to the small machine division. He then worked in accessory basket and rack manufacturing before finally joining our project team. Since 2018, Alexander has worked as a project technician for MEIKO GREEN, managing food waste treatment system projects across southern Germany for our German market organisation. Read on to discover what Alexander likes best about his new role.

Germany's autobahns are like a second home for Alexander Jägle. He spends the whole week on the road overseeing installations at customer sites, with the most complex projects sometimes requiring many months of support. MEIKO prides itself on planning and assembling its food waste treatment systems to match each customer's individual requirements. So there are always fresh challenges to tackle!

WHAT'S A TYPICAL DAY IN THE LIFE OF A MEIKO PROJECT TECHNICIAN?

Alexander: "No two days are alike. I provide project support for numerous food waste treatment systems, covering everything from construction planning and installation to commissioning and customer training. Having closely followed so many projects, I have built up a good overview of the full lifecycle of food waste processing – that's one of the reasons this job is so rewarding. Depending on the complexity of the project, I might spend anywhere from a week to several months with a single customer."

WHAT KINDS OF SYSTEMS DO YOU INSTALL?

Alexander: "Today's food waste treatment systems can be quite complex. Smart solutions are required for the pump and vacuum systems, the connected wastewater technology including grease separators, the intermediate pumping stations and the lift stations. My projects range from small-scale installations in care homes or schools to highly sophisticated systems for larger facilities that have a high throughput of food waste."

WHAT MAKES THIS COMPANY SO SPECIAL IN YOUR EYES?

Alexander: „MEIKO MEIKO is like my second family. I’ve always felt trusted and valued here, and there’s a great sense of togetherness. My current role often requires me to work alone, but I experienced that amazing team spirit in all the departments I worked in before. Whenever I have a meeting scheduled at our headquarters in Offenburg, I always look forward to the familiar faces and the inspiring conversations."

100 PERCENT COMMITTED TO MEIKO

I’m always looking to enhance my skills, and MEIKO gives me the opportunity to do that every step of the way. That’s why my motto is “Once you join MEIKO, you never look back!”

WHAT DO YOU LOOK FORWARD TO MOST EACH MORNING?

Alexander: "Making customers happy! That's the ultimate goal of every system we install. It's always a great feeling to hand over a completed system to the customer after weeks or months of installation work. Seeing their satisfaction makes all the effort worthwhile."

WHAT SKILLS DOES YOUR JOB REQUIRE?

Alexander: „For project technicians like me, it's important to make a good and confident impression when dealing with customers. It's all about establishing trust and making the customer feel valued. On top of that, you obviously need extensive technical expertise and the confidence and assurance to make decisions on site. What's great about MEIKO is that you have experienced colleagues mentoring you from day one, so you can grow into your role gradually. They also provide comprehensive ongoing training, so nothing is left to chance."

MARATHON EFFORTS IN SPORT AND AT WORK

Before becoming a service technician, Alexander was an avid sportsman. A few years ago, he even took part in a mountain bike marathon and a 24-hour endurance cycling race. His busy travel schedule overseeing MEIKO GREEN installations means weekday training sessions are now harder to fit in, but he still cherishes the friendships he made during his time on the MEIKO cycling team.

HOW DO YOU UNWIND FROM WORK?

Alexander: "Weekends are definitely family time. During the week, I tend to keep my running shoes in the van and try to grab a quick run between site visits. And when I'm working with colleagues, there's nothing better than unwinding with colleagues over a well-earned pint after a good day's work."

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO POTENTIAL APPLICANTS?

Alexander: "I think the most important thing is to keep learning. Research in this industry is constantly advancing, and so should you! Nobody can know everything, but with a bit of effort it's perfectly possible to pick up new skills. So it's definitely worth taking the plunge and sending in your application."
